Occupational Therapist jobs in Brockton, MA

JOB GOAL:  To implement, train and supervise an Occupational Therapy Program at the Boston Higashi School consistent with the principles of Daily Life Therapy and each students Individual Education Plan (I.E.P.) objectives and goals.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervise and establish a system in coordination with Master Teachers and Classroom Teacher so that each student’s occupational therapy needs are met within the program.
2. Review each student's I.E.P. and contribute to the development of an appropriate occupational program. Attend team I.E.P. meetings when necessary; consult with parents for development of occupational strategies at school and at home for their child.
3. Participate in admissions intake.
4. Observe and assess student progress in meeting individual student goals and objectives. 
5. Consult with Master Teachers and teachers on a regular basis regarding student progress and classroom follow-up.
6. Communicate student progress to the parents, Director of Special Education, Principal, and school districts.
7. Identify and recommend appropriate program materials to the Master Teachers and Teachers based on curriculum, lesson development and procedures, and teaching strategy.
8. Review program at the residence for each student to ensure consistency in occupational training and technique.
9. Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Training and the Director of Special Education. 
10. Attend appropriate professional development seminars to ensure knowledge and implementation of current occupational therapy initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor Degree and Licensure
• Experience in working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Experience with Daily Life Therapy preferred 
• Ability to take direction and serve as a contributing member of a team 
• Must be able to work in a multicultural environment and possess good interpersonal and communication skills 
• Must have proficient computer skills
