Occupational Therapist plans and conducts individualized occupational therapy programs to help patients develop, regain, or maintain their ability to perform daily activities. Teaches patients skills/techniques and how to use adaptive equipment for participating in activities. Being an Occupational Therapist studies, evaluates, and records patients' activities and progress. May require a master's degree. Additionally, Occupational Therapist typically reports to a manager. Typically requires Occupational Therapist certification. Occupational Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Summary/Objective

    Develops, plans, and implements appropriate therapeutic programs for identified students in the school district.

     

    Essential Functions

    Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:

     

    1. Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for all students eligible for physical therapy services.
    2. Develop, implement, and coordinate a physical therapy program, including philosophy, vision, departmental procedures and goals.
    3. Provide direct service to students as indicated on specific IEPs.
    4. Provide homebound service, as needed.
    5. Evaluate students, interpret assessment findings, and appropriately convey information to parents and school teams.
    6. Consult with school staff, parents, and agencies regarding student needs, progress, and instructional modifications.
    7. Validate outside diagnostic evaluations and program recommendations.
    8. Recommend and assist with procurement of therapeutic equipment and materials based on student needs, as needed.
    9. Maintain student services, administrative, and other department records in accordance with the Arizona Physical Therapy Practice Act as well as school district, state, and federal policies.
    10. Communicate and consult with school staff, parents, administrators, physicians, community, and other professionals effectively verbally and in written form.
    11. Participate in professional growth activities.
    12. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members, and vendors.
    13. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.

    5. Regularly required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    6. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

     

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full time, exempt position. Employee will typically work Monday through Thursday.

     

    Required Education and Experience

    Master’s ore more advanced degree from an accredited institution in the field of occupational therapy

     

    Preferred Education and Experience

    1. Two years pediatric clinical experience or elementary school experience
    2. Sensory Integration Certification
    1. Good knowledge of medical/surgical/pediatric information and indications for occupational therapy treatment

     

    Required Certifications/Licenses

    Licensure through the Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy

    Work Authorization/Security Clearance

    Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
