Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans and performs occupational therapy treatments for neurologically and physically impaired patients; consults with doctors and supervisors to determine treatment plans for each patient; administers tests such for function, range of motion, and Activities of Daily Living (ADL); evaluations and perceptual screenings; coordinates, teaches, and supervises functional exercises; develops exercises and activities to improve fine motor skills and activities of daily living; attends appropriate clinics, management meetings, and case conferences to discuss patient status; documents and records patient's response from treatment, and reports any changes to doctor; teaches self-care activities with or without the use of adapted devices; instructs clients, family and caregivers regarding home exercise programs and equipment needs; fabricates and applies splints as indicated; assists in inventory and preparation of ordering therapeutic splinting materials supplies and ADL equipment; adapt games, arts and crafts as therapeutic treatment; may assist in training therapy assistants in the treatment of patients; may assist in monitoring and coordinating the work of lower level staff and students in administering occupational therapy treatment programs.Consult and collaborate with School staff and families in regards to cognitive, physical, and motor skill needs face, including but not limited to: Developmental Delays, Social Skills, Sensory Processing Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, And other Chronic Disorders, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Mental Health and/or Behavioral Issues, Physical Injuries, Spatial Awareness, Neuromotor Dysfunction.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Must hold a current license to practice in California 
• Assumes responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development
