SECURITY ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION)

  • Duties

    • You will prepare correspondence and documents in accordance with regulations and policies ensuring they follow proper structure, grammar, and punctuation.
    • You will process requests for the issuance of vehicle decals, temporary passes, contractor or vendor passes, or visitor passes.
    • You will input data into the command's personnel security program database to ensure that all required Security forms are verified for completion.
    • You will perform customer service by interacting with internal and external clients and assisting in finding resolutions of issues or concerns.

    Qualifications

    This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your self-certification on your resume will be used in your qualification determination.

    Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying security directives pertaining to entry and visitor control of restricted areas; 2) Preparing documents and correspondences while checking for proper grammar, spelling and punctuation; 3) Maintaining records in a computer system to retrieve and provide information.

    Education

    The following education may be substituted for specialized experience:

    A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience must equal one hundred percent.

    This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While work is primarily sedentary, some standing, bending, lifting and walking are required. Additionally, a great deal of visual computer contact while operating the WinStars Network and CLEOC network.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in an office setting involving everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places. The work area is adequately lighted. Duty hours may rotate in order to provide 7 days a week coverage for the Visitor Control Center. Office setting is enclosed and well ventilated. Incumbent can be subject to verbal abuse during personal or telephone conversations with members of the general public.

    This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
