Support Systems Analyst - Sheriff's Office

  • Job Summary

    Under the direction of the Sheriff’s Office, the programmer/analyst will design, develop, and maintain computer programs and systems. Under supervision, work with stakeholders to analyze current process flows and design improvements based on technological trends.

    Essential Duties

    Writes multi-tier computer programs, tests and debugs programs, writes programming code documentation, and assists with implementation to include training and support.

    Under general supervision, provides support to the Sheriff’s Office by developing, modifying, and maintaining custom databases, programs, and reports.

    Analyzes requests from divisions to develop new systems or modify existing systems to create efficiencies.

    Develops, modifies and maintains assigned programs. Monitors the operation of assigned programs and responds to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and coding.

    Provides technical advice and support to users. This includes creating ad-hoc reports, data analysis and correction, training and problem solving.

    Directs the deployment and maintenance of 3rd party applications in use at the Sheriff’s Office.

    Analyzes and automates complex business systems.

    Acts as data management coordinator with the Sheriff’s Office.

    Confirms program operation by conducting tests; modifying program sequence and/or codes.

    Provides reference materials and maintains user documentation.

    Acts as a liaison between Brown County Information Technology and the Sheriff’s Office.

    Acts as a liaison between 3rd party software companies and the Sheriff’s Office

    NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Routine maintenance of department equipment.

    Perform related functions as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications Required

    Education and Experience:
    Degree (Associate or Bachelors) from an accredited institution or sufficiently related experience
    One to three years programming-related experience

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    Fluent in one or more current computer programming languages / stacks.

    Experience with MS SQL, MySQL, or equivalent.

    Experience with the reporting engine SQL Reporting Services, Telerik or equivalent.

    Experience programming in .Net (C#), Web Technologies (Angular, Web API, HTML, CSS) or similar technologies.

    Experience working in MS SQL Server, MS Reporting Services, or similar technologies.

    Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.

    Knowledge of the software development process.

    Ability to use PC hardware/software, including word processing, presentation, spreadsheets, mapping software, databases and email management programs.

    A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, member agencies and others on a professional level.

    Ability to prepare clear and accurate written reports.

    Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to accept responsibility and exercise sound judgment.

    Ability to complete required training or physical skills.

    Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.

    Strong critical thinking skills.

    Ability to manage confidential and highly sensitive information in stressful situations and time constraints.

    Ability to work individually and as a member of a team.
