We are seeking candidates with a strong foundation in emergency response, including the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) minimum Crewboss (CRWB) qualification. It's important to note that this position has a variable schedule and requires multiple 24-hour on-call coverages each month. All required training will be provided to ensure you're equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.

Responsibilities
- Exercises direct and indirect supervision over volunteer and paid personnel as assigned.
- Assigns, directs, and supervises activities of assigned and incident personnel, ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards.
- Administers or makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting subordinates, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, scheduling work hours, granting leave, appraising performance, disciplining, and submitting such records and reports as required by Sheriff's Office and County policies and procedures.
- Exercises direct, first-level supervision of employees, operations, and activities within the assigned section.
- Oversees the care and operation of all assigned equipment.
- Maintains discipline and ensures agency rules and policies are followed.
- Prepares agreements; writes and reviews grant proposals.
- Evaluates training needs of subordinates; researches and designs training programs; conducts in-service training for staff, agency personnel, volunteers, and outside organizations; maintains related training records and reports.
- Assists in budget preparation and in the development of goals and objectives for the Emergency Services Section.
- Coordinates and oversees operations, finance, logistics, and planning of all assigned incidents.
- Completes proper incident records and reports.
- Works on a 24/7 on-call basis in emergency situations.
Nonessential Functions:
- Attends and presents at public and community events.
- Conducts inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment, and makes purchase requests as appropriate.
- When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

- Demonstrate a general knowledge of Sheriff's Office and County rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Take command of emergency incidents, develop appropriate response and resources, organizational structure, and action plans to protect members under his/her command.
- Organize material and present information clearly and concisely in verbal and written form.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED, supplemented by specialized courses in wildfire management and control, and search and rescue.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License.
- Must be at least 21 years of age by date of hire.
- CPR and First Aid certified.
- Certification at the NWCG arduous level work capacity test.
- Certification of National Incident Management System (NIMS) ICS 100, 200.
- Certification of NIMS IS 700 level.
- Possession of a valid National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) Red Card with the minimum qualifications of Crewboss (CRWB).
- Must obtain National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) standards as a Task Force Leader within 3 years of date of hire.
- Must obtain NWCG standards as a Type 4 Incident Commander within 3 years of date of hire.
- Must obtain NWCG standards as a Type 3 Incident Commander within 5 years of date of hire.
- Must obtain NWCG standards as a Division Supervisor within 6 years of date of hire.
- Must obtain ICS 300 within 3 years from date of hire.
- Must obtain ICS 400 within 4 years from date of hire.
- Must obtain IS 800 within 2 years from the date of hire.
- Must pass S-200, S-215, and S-330 within 2 years of date of hire.
- Must pass S-300, S-339 and S-390 within 4 years of date of hire.
- Must pass Managing a Lost Person Incident (MLPI) course or equivalent within 3 years of date of hire.
- Must pass Fundamentals of Search and Rescue (FUNSAR) course or equivalent within 2 years of date of hire.
- Must pass Water Operations Officer Development course or equivalent within 2 years of date of hire.
- Must pass Dive Rescue 1 course or equivalent within 2 years of date of hire.
- Must pass Swiftwater Rescue course or equivalent within 3 years of date of hire.
- Must pass Swiftwater Rescue 2 course or equivalent within 4 years of date of hire.
- Must pass Hazardous Material Awareness course or equivalent within 2 years of date of hire.
- Must pass Supervisor Leadership course or equivalent within 2 years of date of hire.
