Title: Residential Direct Support Professional

Job Objectives: Supervision, Caring of and Training for the Developmentally Disabled. Employee is responsible for personal care services, behavior maintenance, housekeeping, transportation, and paperwork associated with the program.
Education/Work Experience Required: Must be 18 years of age.
Equipment/Materials Used: Valid Colorado Driver’s License that meets agency standards. Successful completion of a criminal background check and pass drug test.
Physical/Mental Demands: Sitting, Standing, Reaching, Bending, Stooping, Twisting, Turning, Driving, Basic Reading/Writing, Counting, Phone Use, Lifting, Cooking, Cleaning, Filing, Copying, Typing, Computer Use, Walking, Running, Listening, and Restraining aggressive individuals. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Responsible for the safety of consumers, others and yourself. Complete and pass medication training; attend person specific trainings.
Must have a valid driver's license
Personal Care Services:
Meals- Assist residents in the following: Proper nutritional menu planning, shopping, and meal preparation. Instruction in eating skill/table manners. Instruction and participation in kitchen duties.
Clothing-Buying, laundering, mending clothing. Develop/Implement daily programs for dressing and clothing care skills
Hygiene/Grooming- Purchase of toiletry articles. Develop/implement programs for daily bathing, toileting, menstrual care, and hair care.
Health Care-Administration of prescribed and over-the-counter drugs/first aid supplies. Secure all medication. Keep daily medication, seizure, incident, illness records as required. Handle all medical emergencies. Report illness, injury or symptoms to your supervisor. Oversee Health and Welfare of the individuals.
Consumer Supervision/Behavior Maintenance:
a. Evaluation, Planning, and Implementation- Supervision as outlined in Individual Plan. Implement Behavioral Support Plans (IBSSP). Implement Individual Service and Support Plans (ISSP). Conduct daily documentation and quarterly review of consumer records. Filling out GER reports as needed and daily contact logs via the Therup program on computer. Write and implement Health and Safety Plans. Conduct all required Residential Assessments including a Functional Analysis and Comprehensive Life Review. Insure consumer records are maintained in compliance with the state survey standard.
Recreational Services:
Daily Activities- Prepare daily activities schedule. Conduct activities as scheduled. Ensure optimal integration of consumers.
Physical Requirements: No present or chronic history of back, knee, feet, hands, or shoulder problems. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitiously throughout the day. Physically be able to restrain individuals per plan.
Transportation: Adhere to agency Policies and Procedures with regards to use/maintenance of vehicles. Secure authorized transportation for resident to/from scheduled activities, appointment, etc. Clean interior/exterior of vehicles as needed. Must pass driving course implemented by SDS instructor, for use of vehicles and wheelchair vans/buses. Physically execute ability to safely secure passengers including wheelchairs.
Cooperative Working Relationship among Staff: Adhere to all Personnel Policies and Procedures as stated by the agency.
Housekeeping/Facility Maintenance: Maintain safe/sanitary conditions at all times. Maintain physical orderliness. Keep consumer inventory records. Report all necessary maintenance items to proper individuals.
Mechanical Skills: Know how to safely operate and lock consumer wheelchairs, Training with O2 tanks (oxygen) and other various medical equipment as needed.
Records/Reports: Responsible for program attendance sheets, keeping record of consumer finances including deposits/spending and maintaining receipts. Complete and turn in monthly fire drills. Record and turn in all weekly/monthly medical reports/documentation. Other reports as indicated.
Certifications: To be completed in the first year of employment: CPR, First Aid, Safety Care Course, QMAP (Medication Administration). Receive in-depth training concerning confidentiality, MANE, Consumer Rights, DD and System Values.
Other Requirements: Must provide proof of influenza vaccination as required by the CDHP. Required background check, UA Drug screening, physical, and TB test.
