    Department Overview

    PG&E's Regulatory Services (RS) Department at the Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP) is PG&E's primary interface with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The Compliance group in RS is responsible for event and routine reporting to the NRC, interfacing with NRC onsite and Region IV inspectors (including NRC inspection preparation and support), Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR) maintenance, NRC Performance Indicator (PI) reporting, regulatory commitment management, and regulatory operating experience (OE) review.

    Position Summary

    Provides leadership for ensuring site activities are performed in accordance with the licensing basis, and to serve as primary liaison between site personnel and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulators and inspectors.

    Travel required 10% of the time.

    To obtain and maintain employment and unescorted access at DCPP, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check, psychological screen, computer-based training, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

    PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

    A reasonable salary range is:
    California Minimum: $140,000
    California Maximum: $238,000

    Job Responsibilities

    • Analyzes regulatory positions and NRC issues, and advises the Plant Management accordingly; suggests when to contact and/or meet with the NRC.
    • Implements commitment tracking activities associated with site-generated regulatory correspondence.
    • Provides licensing direction to the organization, vendor and consultant personnel to ensure that regulatory requirements relating to the design, construction and modification of existing facilities are met
    • Provides necessary interface with outside organizations and serves as the on-site liaison for NRC resident inspectors, and corresponds with the NRC regarding nuclear plant licensing issues.
    • Responsible for maintaining the operating permits and licenses required by the NRC and state or local governments for nuclear facilities
    • Supervises Bargaining Unit Nuclear Engineers at the associate, journey, senior and senior advising levels.
    • Works to identify, prioritize, and facilitate necessary station support and response to regulatory issues or required licensing initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Minimum:

    • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
    • Nuclear power plant experience, 4 years

    Desired:

    • Senior Reactor Operator license
    • Supervisory experience
    • Ability to interface and build relationships with external regulators.
    • Ability to actively listen and be receptive to Regulator's input.
    • Ability to make decisions within established and proper guidelines and Regulator feedback.
    • Conflict Resolution - Deals with interpersonally and/or politically challenging situations calmly and diplomatically, diffusing tension; facilitates communication and resolves problems.
