Online Pharmacist compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs per physician's instructions for online or mail order subscription orders. Manages a high volume of prescriptions. Being an Online Pharmacist does not typically interact with customers. May supervise technicians and oversee operational activities including data entry, order fulfillment, and shipping. Additionally, Online Pharmacist requires a doctorate degree in pharmacy (Pharm.D.). Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh). Experience with computer operations, unit dose drug dispensing systems, IV admixture and parenteral chemotherapy admixture experience is preferred.
Responsibilities of the Staff Pharmacist:
- Responsible for the timely and accurate verification of all medication orders and safely prepares medication and other pharmaceuticals.
- Researches, educates and communicates drug information to physicians, house staff, nurses and other healthcare providers and patients/families.
- Knowledgeable of automated medication dispensing process/reports.
