JOB DESCRIPTION:
The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare and set up CNC machines by utilizing the Cad Network within the Foundry Division, in accordance with engineering specifications or by writing required programs to machine tooling which meets customers’ blueprints. The incumbent will work on Pro-E program for the Foundry. The patterns and core boxes will be cut from Urethane, Aluminum, Cast Iron and Steel. The programs written should provide an optimum combination of tool life and cutting speed for the different materials noted above.
- Review CAD files and or drawings to assure that the tooling will be made properly, fixtures can be used as designed and the program associated with the tooling is operating correctly
- Maintain accurate files of all programs and set-up information, as supplied by Designers and Manufacturing Engineers, correcting and updating any changes in parts, fixtures and/or methods that may be necessary
- Monitor set-ups in order to keep them uniformed between similar tooling and to minimize any loss of efficiency
- Liaison between Quality Control and Pattern Shop
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of Pro-E software
- Well-versed in writing programs for the creation of pattern equipment and core boxes per verbal instructions from management
- Understanding of Foundry and machine shop practices, i.e. molding and core
- Knowledge of pattern making, gating and related activities
- Knowledge of ferrous materials
- Ability to read and interpret shop blue prints an drawings
