Project Management Job Description/typical duties:
· Order is received from sales
o Compare quote and PO to confirm payment terms and that there is no missing details
o Begin typing up engineering notes/determine project specific parts to be referenced for the engineering team.
o Schedule discussion with salesman and engineering team to ensure all details have been gathered or what questions will need to be asked of the customer directly to finalize design
o Reach out to customer to introduce yourself and let them know you will be the direct contact going forward for any project questions/comments/concerns etc.
o Work out timeline for project and set milestones for:
§ Engineering
§ Manufacturing
§ Assembly
§ Automation
§ Check off/testing
§ Crating/shipping
o Provide customer with concept approval drawings to ensure there are no complications or interferences once the customer receives the equipment
· Perform quality control on the project throughout the development to maintain any standards expected.
· Engineering design review
o Once signed approval drawing is received allow engineering to finalize their design and then schedule a review of the equipment with the engineer, engineering manager and sales to ensure all specifics of the quote have been met.
· Drawing review/edits
o Review manufacturing drawings to ensure all details are listed for machinists, fabrication and assembly
o If mistakes are found red line the drawings and provide back to engineer to correct
· You will need to know what assembler is working on what projects
o You will need to be generally aware of the progress of work on a project in assembly so you can relay info accordingly and to schedule any testing, shipping, and installation at the customer facility.
o You will need to be generally aware of what parts (generally) assembly lacks to complete the projects, and relay that information to purchasing, inventory, fab, and the machine shop to help expedite those items along.
§ i.e. Advise other departments of what is needed in assembly and its priority
· Responsible for managing drawing redlines as provided by the assemblers, making sure hand-off procedures are followed correctly.
o Handle direct ECO’s(engineering change orders) for projects in assembly. The reason is you likely need to be aware of conditions that may prevent a project being completed on time and/or may need to expedite their completion as needed.
· Check off the equipment as it gets completed in assembly and automation
o See attached “HB FAT checklist” for reference of typical areas of check and validation
o Test equipment with/without product and validate quoted rate of speed and weight accuracy are achieved prior to crating/shipping to customer.
· Verify progress payments/payment terms are being met and invoiced timely.
o Ensure pre-ship payment has been received prior to scheduling shipment
· Coordinate with customer service and end user on any installations as projects get completed and other service related visits that come up.
· Labeling samples and organizing samples
- Administrative items as necessary (answering phones, lobby, face to the customer)
