Operations Director jobs in Newport News, VA

• Maintain high quality repairs and minimize comebacks, and conduct checks of completed jobs for quality
• Oversee diesel shop and schedule technicians to tasks on a daily basis
• Manage technicians including hiring, training, and evaluating
• Ensure all work is completed and meets all quality and safety standards
• Uphold all safety standards and regulations including auditing for compliance and monthly safety meetings
• Minimize downtime and drive timely service by prioritizing work on a daily or weekly basis
• Monitor operation expenses
• Develop long and short term goals and provide direction for the team through team meetings
• Have knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
• Must be experienced in heavy diesel engine diagnostics and repairs
• Work with Parts Advisor to always be improving the overall profitability of each job and the shop overall
• Keep current on new equipment or tools and recommend purchases to diesel technicians
• Knowledge and use of computer aided diagnostic software and hardware is a must
• Make customer satisfaction a priority, ensuring office staff are courteous and respectful
• Handle customer complaints immediately and according to Tidewater Express Inc. guidelines
• Attend quarterly management meetings
• Approve employee time records and time off requests
• Maintain a safe and working environment
• Responsible for overall condition of the shop and shop equipment
• Any other duties as assigned by the President
