Able to comprehend Miller Bridge, MDOT and US Coast Guard manuals, rules, regulations and procedures. Handwriting must be legible. Accurate record and log keeping. Proper communication on the marine radio and telephone. Able to follow instructions. Minor maintenance upon request. We will train and certify before you can operate yourself. Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen (pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion- a medical card doesn't remove the drug use qualifications). Must be able to distinguish red, green and yellow colors and cannot be colorblind. Corrected vision 20/40 or better. Must be able to climb bridge stairs and ladders. Must be able to hand crank bridge gates, carry and place traffic control devices (30lbs ). Be able to hear frequencies from 500-6,000 hertz 15 Db and overall hearing must be able to resolve no less than -50 Db. Mechanically inclined person is recommended, but not necessary. You must be punctual, honest, responsible, work as a team, maintain positive attitude, critical thinking/problem solving, and uphold a professional appearance. We will train and certify the right person. Must be 18 or older. Service dates: March 15 - December 15, seasonally. We work a Panama Schedule- meaning, two weeks at M, T, x, x, F, Sat, Sun. Two weeks at x,x,Wed, Thurs, x,x,x. Most Federal holidays are paid at double time. Time & a half pay for your 60 hour weeks. Starting Pay $15.00/hr.
