    The work site location for this position is at our BAE Systems Greenlawn, NY or Wayne NJ site. Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work schedule format, with a majority scheduled for on-site support. In addition, this supervisory position includes BAE System sites at Hudson, NH and Manassas, VA, and may require occasional travel to those sites.

    In Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) solutions, you’ll help develop systems that sense, control, exploit and disseminate actionable information to warfighters supporting a variety of missions. BAE Systems’ Reliability Science department is involved with every stage of the equipment lifecycle from early concept through development, Integration & Test, production, and field support. You will have significant interaction across the company including program office, all engineering disciplines and production functions.

    The individual selected for this position will be an experienced technical leader who possesses proven engineering experience with complex integrated military avionics/electronic hardware and related test equipment. This position will serve as a first-line Reliability Sciences discipline supervisor for a technical engineering team. The individual is to have experience in Reliability Engineering, Maintainability Engineering including Built-In Test design and evaluation, Product Safety Engineering and Failure Investigation/Corrective Action. Knowledge in C4ISR product lines is important including IFF, Space Programs, Mission Computers, Avionics, Radio Communication and Antennas. Other experience important to this position is staff appraisals, salary administration, workforce planning, staff development, supervising the technical work of the staff, and interfacing with QA, Operations Department, Engineering Management and Program Office.

    In this role, you will:
    • Lead and inspire Reliability Sciences engineering team in executing assignments and responsibilities.
    • Assist in the development of MBE/Modeling tools that will provide greater capability and efficiency for providing reliability solutions to the various BAE Systems’ customers.
    • Actively engage with team under his/her purview to ensure successful project execution and delivery of quality work products that meet the expectations of the programs.
    • Support staff generation/tailoring of Reliability, Maintainability, Testability & Safety Development Plans which ensure adherence to processes and best practices.
    • Manage staff workload and fulfill staffing requirements to support program and initiative needs.
    • Acquire, develop, and grow Reliability Sciences engineering staff with the skills and capabilities to meet the demands of projects through hiring, staff development/training, mentoring, and personal growth opportunities.
    • Support projects throughout the product life cycle, including bid and proposal, design and development, production, and sustainment.
    • Partner and collaborate with Program Office, Engineering Leadership, Operations, and off-site leadership in executing responsibilities.
    • Participate in planning and coordination efforts associated with department expenses, capital, training and recruiting.
    • Participate in proposal activities by preparing proposal inputs including cost and time phasing of tasks, and capture of Risks and Opportunities for management.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills
    Minimum Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 10 or more years of relevant engineering experience
    • US Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

    Required Skills:
    • Demonstrated experience and leadership in engineering development and sustainment in support of DoD military electronics/avionics equipment.
    • Strong technical leadership, effective team player, and solid individual contributor with sound technical fundamentals
    • Demonstrated experience in the development of MBE/Modeling tools for reliability analysis solutions.
    • Proven team leader with strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Have successfully establish strong working relationships across company’s technical and non-technical functions.
    • Motivated self-starter and creative problem solver with proven experience executing in diverse multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Reliability Predictions and MTBF Modeling
    • Perform RAM trade studies.
    • Define/allocate RAM requirements and assess RAM performance (MTBF, MTBCF, Ao)
    • Perform Reliability Predictions and MTBF Modeling
    • Perform Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
    • Perform Testability Analysis
    • Perform Maintainability Analysis
    • Support production by performing Failure Analysis and Corrective Action activities.

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
    Highly Desirable (these skills/experiences are not required but will set a candidate apart from the rest):
    • Master’s degree in engineering and 8 or more years of relevant engineering experience within the Reliability Sciences disciplines.
    • Current DoD Secret clearance or Higher
    • Knowledge and/or experience with the principles of electrical and mechanical design
    • Reliability and Maintainability analysis and reliability growth software tools experience / awareness using ReliaSoft and Windchill PTC products preferred.
    • Experience conducting and/or facilitating Design Failure Modes Effect Analysis (DFMEA)
    • Familiarity with technology characterization for semiconductor products.
    • Familiarity with C4ISR IFF and Radiation Hardened electronics products is a plus.
    • Experience with new company acquisitions and with plant start-up and production line relocation (multiple product lines for each).
    • Collaboration: You love working with a team and receiving input from others.
    • Creativity: You love finding new and creative ways to solve problems.
    • Communication: You are able to concisely explain complex subjects in person and in email.
    • Make technical choices. Accomplish most Reliability, Maintainability & Safety tasks individually.
    • Root Cause /Failure Analysis experience desired
    • Experience in technical documentation and report generation

    Pay Information
    Full-Time Salary Range: $147300 - $250400

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
