    Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Missouri Geological Survey, and will be located at 111 Fairgrounds Road, Rolla, Missouri 65401

    As a Section Manager for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Missouri Geological Survey you will lead activities of the Geologic Resources Section. You will work in a dynamic atmosphere overseeing a team of geologists and support staff, manage budgets from numerous funding sources, and ensure quality deliverables. You will support the core values of the Geological Survey Program which include Technical Competency, Service, Professionalism, Ingenuity, and Cooperation and the mission and values of the Division.

    What you’ll do:

    • Develop strategic plans for the Geologic Resources Section
    • Lead a dynamic and growing team of geologists and support staff to accomplish goals of the Section
    • Provide quality control and quality assurance for fiscal components and deliverables for a variety of grants and funding sources
    • Supervise and motivate others, manage employee performance through coaching, team building, and delegation
    • Partner and communicate regularly with stakeholders including public, industry, state, and federal agencies to accomplish goals
    • Serve as staff coordinator of the State Mapping Advisory Committee and the Industrial Minerals Advisory Committee
    • Support strategic information management

    All you need for success:

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in geology or closely related field that includes 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of credit in geology and 4-6 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree
    • Registered Geologist
    • Experience leading teams
    • Familiarity with grants, project management, and budgets
