Ophthalmic Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry. Being an Ophthalmic Technician prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Additionally, Ophthalmic Technician may assist physicians in performing minor surgical and laser procedures. May dispense contact lenses. Typically requires an associate degree. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). May require Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). Typically reports to a manager. Ophthalmic Technician - Boulder

    Work Schedule: Full Time Days

    Responsibilities:
    • Under the direct supervision of eye care provider, assists with performing patient care. Demonstrate proficiency in performing ophthalmic core competencies.
    • Performs basic ophthalmic testing procedures, diagnostic testing, administration of medications and tasks delegated by the eye care provider.
    • Assists with minor procedures and prescription refill process under the direction of provider.
    • Performs documentation, patient education and enters charges. Assists with the flow of patient care.
    • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

    Requirements:
    • Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED.
    • Required Licensure/Certification: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if performing as a contact lens technician. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
    • Minimum Experience: 2 years sponsored on the job ophthalmic training, or ophthalmic internship.

    The pay range for this position is: $22.80 - $29.64 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
