Ophthalmic Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry. Being an Ophthalmic Technician prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Additionally, Ophthalmic Technician may assist physicians in performing minor surgical and laser procedures. May dispense contact lenses. Typically requires an associate degree. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). May require Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). Typically reports to a manager. Our busy ophthalmic practice is seeking an individual to perform workups and testing on patients during clinic. We are looking for a team player who is willing to do whatever it takes to provide excellent patient care, working with doctors and other team members to solve patient care issues, and assisting in the day to day operations of the business. We are searching for an individual who truly cares about making a difference and making our patients better any way we can.
The position requires a great deal of initiative and flexibility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. A high school diploma or equivalent, impeccable organizational skills, computer knowledge, medical terminology, and an ability to establish rapport with patients and other team members are required.
