Ophthalmic Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry. Being an Ophthalmic Technician prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Additionally, Ophthalmic Technician may assist physicians in performing minor surgical and laser procedures. May dispense contact lenses. Typically requires an associate degree. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). May require Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). Typically reports to a manager. We are centrally located in Dayton and are looking for full time applicant. Job responsibilities include taking medical history, visual acuities, tonometry, testing pupil function, evaluation of eye movements, confrontation visual field testing, assist physician with intravitreal injections, update medications, document chief complaint and history, review of systems, scribe as needed. In addition, technicians are trained to do optical coherence tomography scanning and autofluoresence imaging. Would prefer experience, but will train the right individual with the use of our EMR system and ophthalmic assisting.
