Although skilled, certified ophthalmic personnel are preferred, if you are the right person we will train you to be a ophthalmic technician and an ophthalmic medical scribe. This is a great opportunity to learn and advance while you are getting paid. Medical experience is preferred. An ophthalmic assistant is responsible for the preliminary work-up of patients, for an eye exam, before the doctor sees the patient. This includes obtaining a reason for the patient visit, updating medications and health history, performing preliminary testing such as vision, checking glasses prescriptions and other ancillary testing. Candidate must possess excellent people skills and be able to work as part of a team. This position requires excellent computer skills, math skills and typing skills. Also needed is attention to detail, grammar, and spelling. Candidate will first be trained as an ophthalmic technician and eventually as an ophthalmic scribe so flexibility is a must.
