Ophthalmic Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry. Being an Ophthalmic Technician prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Additionally, Ophthalmic Technician may assist physicians in performing minor surgical and laser procedures. May dispense contact lenses. Typically requires an associate degree. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). May require Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). Typically reports to a manager.     MEDICAL ASSISTANT - OPHTHALMOLOGY or OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN

    We have a full-time OPHTHALMIC MEDICAL ASSISTANT opportunity available for an experienced medical assistant, certified MA, certified nursing assistant, optometric technician, optician, or ophthalmic technician.     A successful candidate has the following:

    • A high school diploma, (some college is excellent!)
    • A committed work history that shows longevity and growth
    • Experience in a fast-paced healthcare or medical office environment
    • Proven Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients, technicians, physicians, and outside departmental staff
    • Familiarly with computer software and the ability to learn new systems quickly (Electronic health record experience preferred)
    • Able to remain focused and organized
    • Able to stand with mobility for extended periods of time
    • Considerable knowledge in Ophthalmology theory and practice preferred
    • COA and/or COT certified - a HUGE plus
    • The ability to work at different work locations during the day on occasion- clean DMV and/or transportation required.
