Ophthalmic Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry. Being an Ophthalmic Technician prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Additionally, Ophthalmic Technician may assist physicians in performing minor surgical and laser procedures. May dispense contact lenses. Typically requires an associate degree. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). May require Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). Typically reports to a manager. Eye Surgeons Associates. We are looking for a qualified Ophthalmic Tech to join our team. This is a full-time position with hours varying from 7:45 am to 6:00 pm. You may have to float to our other offices located in Canton and Livonia. Duties include assisting with patient flow by preparing patients for exams/procedures, performing routine testing such as visual acuity, lensometry, keratometry, tonometry and other diagnostic / technical testing. Tech will document eye exam findings under the direction of our physicians accurately into the electronic medical record. We are a busy practice that has served the community for over 30 years.
