Responsibilities:
- Assist customers in selecting eyeglasses and contact lenses based on their prescription and personal preferences
- Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes, including pupillary distance and frame size
- Adjust and fit eyeglasses to ensure proper alignment and comfort
- Educate customers on proper eyewear care and maintenance
- Process orders for eyewear, including verifying insurance coverage and collecting payment
- Perform repairs and adjustments on eyeglasses as needed
- Maintain inventory of frames, lenses, and other optical supplies
- Keep accurate records of customer prescriptions, orders, and transactions
- Collaborate with optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care services
- Scheduling and confirming of appointments
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification as an Optician is preferred
- Proven experience working as an Optician in a similar setting
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, systems, and vital signs related to eye health
- Familiarity with medical coding and medical records management
- Proficiency in using optical equipment, such as lensometers and refractors
- Excellent sales skills with a customer-oriented approach
- Knowledge of retail math for pricing and billing purposes
- Familiarity with optical software systems (e.g., Epic) is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
