HOCKEMEYER FAMILY EYE CARE OPTICIAN:
At Hockemeyer Family Eye Care, we expect our opticians will provide an exceptional purchasing experience for our patients. The primary responsibility of an Optician is to provide information and eyewear that is fitting for the patient needs and demands of our practice. This includes all selling, fitting and dispensing of eyewear within the Hockemeyer Family Eye care boutique.
The Optician will be responsible for frame merchandising, appearance of displays, selling and fitting eyewear within our office. Opticians will be expected to work hand and hand with the Optical manager in managing our frame boards, and developing lasting relationships with our patients as well as frame and product vendors.
There will be a doctor to optician handoff which is imperative to the successful eyewear sales, and in showing our patients that we all work together as a team. The Optician is expected to meet the patient in the exam room, to establish a relationship, and receive recommendations directly from the physician to insure the highest level of eye care possible for our patients.
Job responsibilities:
· Assist front of the house staff with greeting patients promptly as they enter Hockemeyer Family Eye Care and the Optical Department
· Build relationships and assist patients with frame selection based on their lifestyle information, and preferences
· Measure and complete full ordering process for patients
· Merchandising and display of all frames in the eyewear boutique
· Developing relationships with frame, lab, and product vendors
· Place eyewear orders to out sourcing laboratories to insure timely and accurate delivery of patients’ products
· Check in orders from the lab, and notify the appropriate parties when orders are not correct
· Communicate with all patients’ relative information to the period of delivery and pick up
· Work with management on appropriate pricing of frames and have a strong understanding of the price points system
· Respond promptly to Exam Rooms when notified that a pass off is needed for patients after the eye exam is completed
· Listen to the physician’s recommendations as to the type of lens they are suggesting the patient be fitted for, and refer to the physician recommendation throughout the entire optical boutique experience
· Maintain a clean Optical Boutique to include smudge free frames and displays
· Offer and honor all warranty replacements for patients and product returns to vendors
· Ability to explain an accurate amount of time it will take to make the patients custom orders to be available
· Understand and can perform the basic edging process

Optician is expected to Communicate information regarding frames, lenses, warranties, timeframes of finished product, and insurance benefits to patients using terminology that is understandable depending on audience they are targeting
Technical abilities
The optician must be able to accurately measure and record all patient information per Hockemeyer Family Eye Care policies/procedures. Attention to detail relative to prescriptions, accuracy of eyewear received, and any other questions regarding their product in our boutique
Pace of the environment
Must be able to work at a fast pace and affectively handle multiple tasks/patients at one time. This is expected, all while making sure to focus on the individual, to insure they are receiving the 1 on 1 attention they deserve to fulfill the ultimate patient experience
Frequent interaction with others
Must be able to always maintain friendly interactions with team members, patient, and guests of Hockemeyer Family Eye Care. This may include the ability to pick up where leaving off during interruptions from walk ins, or in office patient demands
