Optician measures and fits contact lenses and eyeglass frames based on prescriptions written by ophthalmologists or optometrists. Takes precision measurements of eyes using a pupilometer and other devices to ensure proper fit of eyeglasses or contact lenses. Being an Optician assists and advises customers in selecting frames based on their prescription, lifestyle needs, and style preferences. Inspects lenses for quality, fits and adjusts eyewear, and repairs eyewear as needed. Additionally, Optician instructs customer on correct eyeglasses and contact lens care and maintenance. May process work orders and sales. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Applicable License. Requires Licensed Optician. Typically reports to a manager.     General Job Description & Responsibilities

    The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that all patients are receiving the best quality of care at all times. Primary responsibilities include:

    • Review Physician’s prescriptions and orders based on medical charts
    • Educate patients on their corrective lens options and help them make a choice that fits their medical needs as well as lifestyle preferences
    • Provide honest but compassionate feedback about aesthetic choices in frames
    • Achieve sales goals and quotas as determined by office staff while attending to patients’ specific needs and desires
    • Manage inventory of frames and contact lenses to ensure optimum customer satisfaction and product variety
    • Communicate with physician with questions or concerns about prescriptions and other eye-related issues
    • Perform adjustments and repairs of eyewear
    • Place optical orders with a general understanding of insurance benefits
    Experience & Skills
    Excellent customer service skills and personal presentation are critical to this role. The ideal candidate will have 0-3 years of experience and:

    • Good organizational and multitasking abilities
    • Coachable-open to feedback and continual improvement
    • Flexible and adaptable
    • Professional phone and office etiquette required
    • Optical experience is preferred but not necessary-we will train the right person
