Optician jobs in New Orleans, LA
Optician measures and fits contact lenses and eyeglass frames based on prescriptions written by ophthalmologists or optometrists. Takes precision measurements of eyes using a pupilometer and other devices to ensure proper fit of eyeglasses or contact lenses. Being an Optician assists and advises customers in selecting frames based on their prescription, lifestyle needs, and style preferences. Inspects lenses for quality, fits and adjusts eyewear, and repairs eyewear as needed. Additionally, Optician instructs customer on correct eyeglasses and contact lens care and maintenance. May process work orders and sales. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Applicable License. Requires Licensed Optician. Typically reports to a manager. Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Optician to join our team. As an Optician, you will be responsible for assisting customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses, as well as providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of optical products and services, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping others.
Responsibilities:
- Assist customers in selecting appropriate eyeglasses based on their prescription and personal preferences
- Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit of eyewear
- Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and other enhancements to enhance their vision
- Adjust and repair eyewear as needed
- Maintain accurate records of customer prescriptions and orders
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout the entire sales process
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in the optical industry
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as an Optician preferred
- Previous experience working as an Optician in a retail or medical setting
- Strong knowledge of optical products, including frames, and lenses
- Familiarity with optical equipment and tools used for measuring and fitting eyewear
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
