Optician measures and fits contact lenses and eyeglass frames based on prescriptions written by ophthalmologists or optometrists. Takes precision measurements of eyes using a pupilometer and other devices to ensure proper fit of eyeglasses or contact lenses. Being an Optician assists and advises customers in selecting frames based on their prescription, lifestyle needs, and style preferences. Inspects lenses for quality, fits and adjusts eyewear, and repairs eyewear as needed. Additionally, Optician instructs customer on correct eyeglasses and contact lens care and maintenance. May process work orders and sales. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Applicable License. Requires Licensed Optician. Typically reports to a manager.     As an optician, you will help guide patients into a new pair of glasses that is suited both to their taste and to their visual needs. You will learn about the various types of lenses and upgrade options available to our patients, as well as the ins-and-outs and copays associated with each of the popular vision insurance plans. In-office training can and will be provided, but attention to detail is a must (and a keen sense for fashion is a plus!). Command the sales floor and become familiar with one of the largest varieties of designer frames in the area!
