Optician measures and fits contact lenses and eyeglass frames based on prescriptions written by ophthalmologists or optometrists. Takes precision measurements of eyes using a pupilometer and other devices to ensure proper fit of eyeglasses or contact lenses. Being an Optician assists and advises customers in selecting frames based on their prescription, lifestyle needs, and style preferences. Inspects lenses for quality, fits and adjusts eyewear, and repairs eyewear as needed. Additionally, Optician instructs customer on correct eyeglasses and contact lens care and maintenance. May process work orders and sales. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Applicable License. Requires Licensed Optician. Typically reports to a manager.     Precision Eye Care is looking for an out-going and self-confident full-time optician interested in long-term employment.

    The Purpose of the Position:

    The top priority of this position to ensure that patients complete their treatment plan so that they have the eyewear they need to see and to improve their quality of life. Your primary responsibility would be to close glasses sales on the retail floor. Your secondary responsibilities would be to repair, adjust, and fabricate glasses and manage order fulfilment.

    The Duties: This position combines laboratory, order management, and sales skills

    The primary responsibilities include:

    * Assist patients in selecting frames.

    * Make recommendations on the best lenses for the patients based on the patients’ needs.

    * Provide price quotes to patients and close sales.

    * Explain to patients how their insurance benefits/discounts work.

    * File insurance claims of the patients you help.

    The secondary responsibilities include:

    * Order and check in glasses from the optical laboratory.

    * Edge lenses and assemble glasses.

    * Adjust, repair, and dispense glasses.

    * Monitor order status of all jobs - both patient and stock orders

    * Troubleshoot any non-prescription patient problems with the lenses

    * Provide statistics for weekly meetings.

    * Perform data entry tasks.

    * Perform light janitorial duties.

    Starting Date: Immediately

    Hours: Mondays to Thursdays 9 am to 5:30 pm, Friday 9 am to 4:30 pm.

    Employees can expect to stay 30 minutes after closing each day to complete assigned tasks. There is also a 30 minute meeting on Tuesdays from 8:30 am to 9 am.

    Qualifications: Applicants must be mechanically inclined, detail oriented, and have strong multi-tasking, customer service, and computer skills and be comfortable closing sales. Applicants must be quick learners, highly motivated, have a strong work ethic, maintain a professional appearance, and be high energy. Experience in the optical field is preferred, but not required. A high school diploma is required. Only applicants looking for a long term career need apply.
