Examines patients' eyes to detect and diagnose vision problems, diseases, and other conditions, such as diabetes or hypertension. Being an Optometrist develops treatment plans and prescribes eyeglasses, contact lenses, and/or medication to treat eye disorders. Educates patients on proper eye care and treatment plans. Additionally, Optometrist requires a doctorate degree. Requires Licensed Optician. Requires State License to Practice. Typically reports to a manager. Education & Experience- Residency preferred, but not required
- Doctor of Optometry degree from a top-tier program
- Board certified preferred, but not required
- State-issued license for optometry
Compensation- Competitive, guaranteed base salary for initial period plus bonus if production formula exceeds base salary
- After initial period, compensation is based on production formula only, with significant upside potential
- Sign-on bonuses available
