- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity and detect any abnormalities or diseases
- Diagnose and treat various eye conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
- Prescribe and fit corrective lenses, including glasses and contact lenses
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and answer any questions or concerns they may have
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patient examinations, diagnoses, and treatments
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as ophthalmologists, to ensure coordinated patient care
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in optometry practices and technologies
Requirements:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school
- Valid state license to practice optometry
- Strong knowledge of optometric principles, practices, and procedures
- Proficiency in medical coding and billing procedures
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical terms to patients in a clear and understandable manner
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Experience with optical sales systems is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with aseptic technique for maintaining cleanliness during procedures
