Oracle Database Administrator
Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator with expertise in Oracle database administration and Exadata. Some of the key projects you will be impacting include upgrading our Oracle database version up to 19c; migrating from Exadata X8 to X10; and implementing GoldenGate to support data warehousing efforts.
Please note that this position requires providing on call support in accordance with support coverage schedules, which may include weekends and off hours.
A day in the life of an Oracle Database Administrator may include:
- Installing, updating, and maintaining Oracle database management systems
- Defining and assessing database performance through developing protocols to measure results and identify problem areas - and monitoring, evaluating, and resolving processes and programming problems
- Defining and implementing a business continuity solution for the database environment, including installing and configuring database software and replication processes
- Defining and implementing database management system health checks
- Securing databases by preparing access and control policies and procedures and implementing disaster recovery procedures
- Supporting application designs by contributing database expertise to operations and technical support teams
- Providing mentoring and training on databases and applicable tools, and providing technical lead and support to the team
- Recommending, testing, and evaluating new technologies, software tools, and required skill sets while recommending and implementing improvements
Who You Are
- Technical expertise in Oracle database administration and architecture
- Experience with Oracle Exadata
- Experience with UNIX scripting is valued
- Experience with automating DBMS tasks is valued
