The Database Administrator is responsible for identifying database and reporting requirements by interviewing stakeholders, analyzing department applications and operations, and evaluating existing systems. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Information Technology and is in direct contact with end users to resolve any issues that may arise.
Key tasks of this role include regular database maintenance activities by following internal processes, ensuring delivery targets are met, and maintaining procedural documentation. The scope of this position revolves around database infrastructure and security, communication, service delivery, and standards and working practices.
This is a non-exempt position based out of our headquarters in Modesto, CA. This position requires a minimum of two days per week in the Modesto office with hybrid workdays as agreed upon with the manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The following duties are typical of those performed by employees in this job title; however, employees may perform other related duties.

Build database structures based on detailed design and configure replication

Maintain and test backup and recovery processes

Enforce security measures to protect company data both internally and externally

Provide support during system implementation and production
-
Identify gaps in scripts and procedures
-
Normalize data across all data sources

Provide IT coverage for the office and assist staff with meetings when needed
-
Research and document existing stored procedures and database structure
-
Provide support for end users and help desk requests
-
Define maintenance plans and maintain disaster recovery plan
-
Work in conjunction with the Data Analyst to enable data accessibility
-
Perform physical and logical database administration functions as required for Application Sustain Services
-
Create shell scripts and SQL scripts for staff
-
Work with end users and other third parties (Application, Architects, ITO personnel, tester etc.) to support DBA functions
-
Review new Database Management System (DBMS) releases with end users to understand the business and technical impacts

Set up and maintain test and production databases
-
Propose database changes to ease monitoring and administrative effort
-
Document and implement changes to databases via proper Change Management methodology

Monitor and analyze database activity to proactively identify and prevent potential incidents and recommend performance improvements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A typical way to obtain the above knowledge and skill is a combination of education and experience equivalent to:

Bachelor’s degree in related field and 4 years of experience in database management preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience

Certified in Microsoft SQL Server

Power BI experience highly desired
