Job Title: Database Administrator

We are recruiting to fill a Database Administrator position responsible for installation of the database software, new releases and upgrades and supporting products. This position administers and manages multiple databases, indexes and maintains databases up to current security standard; monitors, tunes, diagnoses, resolves problems with the databases and their performance; and develops and maintains a backup and recovery strategy for all databases.

Other key responsibilities include:

• Designs, writes, and maintains, documents and tests complex computer programs and clearly defined segments of highly complex programs
• Serves as customer contact for systems of limited complexity and some support to a number of systems of higher complexity
• Creates, monitors, and modifies the physical size and structure of database components and programs that support, maintain, and generate information from a database

Desired skills and knowledge:

• Proficient in database design and model
• Working knowledge of high-availability strategies (includes log shipping, DB mirroring, replication and SRDF) and experience in disaster recovery tests
• Considerable knowledge of the principles of computer programming and systems analysis, design, testing, and documentation

Minimum qualifications: (The following statement represents the minimum education and experience which will be used to determine qualifications of applicants. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.)

Bachelor’s degree with at least fifteen (15) semester hours in computer science, computer programming, systems analysis and design, or network design and configuration, and three years of experience with primary responsibility for the configuration of computer hardware or software in a mainframe, midrange and computer environment or with installation and configuration of operation systems, network design and configuration, installing and configuring software applications
