Order Clerk receives and processes orders for materials and merchandise. Utilizes order tracking and CRM systems to process orders, record prices, delivery dates, inventory status, maintain customer information and other data related to each transaction. Being an Order Clerk confirms orders, updates shipping status, and notifies customers of any backorder or delivery delays. Researches and resolves order errors and updates the system. Additionally, Order Clerk may prepare packing lists or other order-related documentation. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Order Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. - Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line.
- Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
- Marks materials with identifying information.
- Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
- Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
- Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Arranges stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other workers.
- Uses computer to enter records.
- Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Drives vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.
- Completes requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments.
- Maintains inventory records. Record shortage, make out location cards and forward to supervisor.
- Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials, shortages, questionable data and all other unusual conditions to proper supervisor.
