Organizational Development Director directs the design, planning, and implementation of corporate organizational development programs, policies, and procedures. Approves change management initiatives and suggests enhancements to existing programs. Being an Organizational Development Director oversees the development of programs to build human capital and a strong employee development culture. Reviews key performance metrics to enable accurate and valid measurement of workforce performance and to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, Organizational Development Director proposes changes to organizational structure to leverage talent and provide development opportunities to key leaders in the organization. Develops systematic collection and evaluation of performance metrics. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Organizational Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Organizational Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Director of Development provides results-driven leadership to increase immediate and long-term support of Palmer College; creates, executes and manages comprehensive, multi-year strategic portfolio plans that will result in increased alumni connection, participation in financial support of the College, new student referrals, and promotion of the College.


    The Director of Development is a member of collaborative, and impact-driven Advancement team, whose priority is to strengthen Palmer’s donor pipeline and raise funds for all areas and priorities in the short-term while investing in long-term relationship building with prospects to build the foundation for future campaigns.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work closely with Vice Chancellor for Advancement and Advancement senior leadership to develop yearly fundraising plan, goals, and metrics for success;
    • Priority must be given to direct contact with donors and prospects;
    • Conduct an average of 10-15 planned strategic donor/prospect in-person visits per month, traveling to assigned regions in the continental United States;
    • Articulate Palmer’s vision, mission, goals and core values in the cultivation and nurture of positive relationships with individual potential and existing donor stakeholders that will help donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a deep relationship with Palmer College;
    • Identify and qualify prospects with the ability to make mid-level, major, planned, or principal gift to Palmer College;
    • Build and actively manage a dynamic portfolio of 125-150 active prospects and donors, with a focus on those with potential for giving $10,000 or more;
    • Create and execute individualized fundraising plans that utilize best practices in mid-level, major and planned giving including; identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors;
    • Maintain current professional and technical knowledge;
    • Maintain institutional compliance regulations;
    • Perform all responsibilities in a manner that fully complies with Palmer’s Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action policy; and
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associate’s degree with four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Familiarity with the principles and best practices of annual giving, including direct mail campaigns, online giving, giving days, and other fundraising techniques commonly used to raise unrestricted funds from individual donors.
    • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the College as well as the technology tools available.
    • Must be flexible and adaptable to new programs in an emerging and changing environment.
    • High attention to detail and follow-up.
    • Experience with coordinating and implementing special events.
    • Experience with office administrative management in a higher education or nonprofit environment.
    • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office programs.
    • Experience using Constituent Relationship Management Systems, alumni database software, and online platforms.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with high degree of professionalism.
    • Ability to perform assigned duties with time pressures and frequent interruptions.
    • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments and prioritize work; attention to detail and ability to follow through.
    • Experience in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding annual fund gifts.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
    • Ability and willingness to travel as required with varied work hours, including evenings and weekends.


    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS


    • Bachelor’s degree with five-plus years of direct and successful experience in fundraising, preference given to years of prior major gift experience in higher education.


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Perform sedentary to light work in a ventilated, lighted, and temperature-controlled office setting.
    • Regular travel by car and plane, up to 50% of the time.
    • Frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, lift objects (up to 10 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the work day.
    • Remote work possibilities in the states of Iowa, Illinois, and Florida.
