Organizational Development Director directs the design, planning, and implementation of corporate organizational development programs, policies, and procedures. Approves change management initiatives and suggests enhancements to existing programs. Being an Organizational Development Director oversees the development of programs to build human capital and a strong employee development culture. Reviews key performance metrics to enable accurate and valid measurement of workforce performance and to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, Organizational Development Director proposes changes to organizational structure to leverage talent and provide development opportunities to key leaders in the organization. Develops systematic collection and evaluation of performance metrics. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Organizational Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Organizational Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Job Summary:

    SOS Children’s Villages Florida has an opening for a Director of Development. This position is responsible for working with the Chief Development Officer to lead development activities to raise funds for organization programs, services, and operations.  In this role, the candidate will identify new and strengthen existing relationships with community stakeholders, actively pursue and manage corporate and individual leads, and foster strong donor relationships. Planning and logistic implementation of signature special events are other integral components of this position.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

     The items listed above are intended to provide an overview of the essential functions of the job. This is not an exhaustive list of all functions and responsibilities that the position may be required to provide.

    • Develop strong relationships within the community to foster a positive image so that foundations, corporations, civic organizations, and individuals will make SOS Children’s Villages Florida their local charity of choice for funding.
    • Manage Donor Administration Coordinator to collect, organize, and maintain a complete and accurate database record of donors and funding received. Establishes tracking tools and monitors monthly.
    • Work collaboratively with fundraising event chairs and committee members to offer management, production and oversight of the annual Hope and Home gala, work with Manager of Fundraising and CDO as part of a team to achieve department revenue goals.
    • Work collaboratively with gala committee to identify resources to secure live and silent auction items.
    • Network at selected community and leadership events.
    • Deliver presentations on programs to various community, corporate and civic groups as needed.
    • Directly supervise Donor Administration Coordinator and provide support to Manager of Fundraising and Special Events for SOS 5K event.
    • Support department social media initiatives by identifying creative, relevant, and compelling content.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Skills and Knowledge:

    • Excellent personal, verbal, and written communication skills
    • Strong knowledge of working with CRM database and experience of using database to maximize optimum engagement and management for donor communications.
    • Experience working with peer-to-peer fundraising platforms as well as One Cause, or other auction software.
    • Able to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
    • Strong organizational, time management and project management skills required.
    • Highly self-motivated with a personal commitment to excellence
    • Ability to find and apply creative solutions to development related situations to make SOS stand out as a premier charity.
    • Foster and promote business relationships and partnering within the community.
    • Establish rapport and build on relationships to promote mission of SOS Children’s Villages Florida
    • Strong public speaking skills required. 

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in non-profit management, marketing, communications, public relations preferred.
    • 5 years fundraising, and 3 years management experience required.
    • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, including Power Point, Word, and Excel required.
