Organizational Development Director directs the design, planning, and implementation of corporate organizational development programs, policies, and procedures. Approves change management initiatives and suggests enhancements to existing programs. Being an Organizational Development Director oversees the development of programs to build human capital and a strong employee development culture. Reviews key performance metrics to enable accurate and valid measurement of workforce performance and to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, Organizational Development Director proposes changes to organizational structure to leverage talent and provide development opportunities to key leaders in the organization. Develops systematic collection and evaluation of performance metrics. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Organizational Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Organizational Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Under the direction of the Head of School/Superintendent, the Development Director is charged with comprehensive responsibilities for planning, oversight, and execution of all aspects of fundraising, event planning, communication, and alumni and donor engagement. The Development Director is expected to accomplish the overall mission and vision of St. Bede Abbey and St. Bede Academy through inspirational and strategic leadership that reflects excellent communication, vision, integrity, impeccable moral character, and commitment to the institutional values.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Establish an intentional, formalized development plan that is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of St. Bede Abbey and St. Bede Academy.
    • Develop and execute implementation of all fundraising initiatives and programs including, but not limited to, Annual Fund, Special Gifts, Matching Gifts and Grant Writing.
    • Be a driving force behind strategies and efforts focused on engaging the Saint Bede community and increasing donor base and Development Department revenues.
    • Directly solicit and close gifts from donors and maintain relationships through mail, email, phone, and in-person contacts on behalf of Saint Bede.
    • Identify, engage and cultivate alumni and friends of Saint Bede.
    • Foster collaboration, motivate and empower team members to achieve priorities and goals.
    • Guide marketing and communication, building on St. Bede brand recognition.
    • Manage and maintain donor database, constituency lists, files and giving records.
    • Keep records of all real-time interactions with potential donors and gifts to the school and abbey.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Public Relations, Business, Communications, or related field.
    • Three to five years experience with proven results in non-profit development and fundraising.
    • Knowledge of, and an appreciation for private catholic education.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Experience with business management, development and/or relationship building, sales and/or solicitation.
    • Experience with donor software and grant writing a plus.
