Organizational Psychologist studies and assesses the organizations workforce, management, culture, business objectives, and challenges using psychological principles and research methods. Designs and develops programs and tools that will be appropriate for the needs of the organization and which will assist employees and management to better achieve desired goals. Being an Organizational Psychologist utilizes various methods including employee surveys, focus groups, skill assessments, performance appraisals, and other feedback mechanisms to assist management in identifying issues and driving improvements. Creates solutions and programs that may be focused on employee selection, job training, leadership training, workplace and family issues, and change management. Additionally, Organizational Psychologist requires a master's degree in industrial/organizational psychology. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Organizational Psychologist works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.     JOB SUMMARY

    Provides patients with psychological care including assessments, individual, group, family counseling, and participates in crisis on call rotation and walk in crisis. Job Duties: Observes, interviews, and performs various psychological tests on patients to diagnose and evaluate mental/emotional illnesses. Develops and administers individualized treatment plans meant to promote personal, social, educational, or vocational development. Consults with doctors, therapists, and clinicians to develop treatment plans that meet specific patient needs. Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as needed. Experience and Education: Requires a degree in psychology and a license to practice. Reports to: department head or director. Competencies: Interpersonal skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships. Persistence. Problem management. Detail oriented.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Provides psychotherapy, consultation, psychoeducational services, psychological assessments, and treatment for behavioral health clients
    • Provides clinically appropriate therapy, utilizing best practices whenever possible.
    • Is actively engaged in the department, solves problems, participates in strategic planning, and contributes positively to workplace moral.
    • As assigned by manager and location participates in on call crisis rotation after hours and assists with walk-in crises during business hours.

    • Works positively and collaboratively with courts, law enforcement, physicians, hospital staff, Department of Family Services, Probation Offices, Campbell County School District and other community agencies as applicable.
    • Maintains clinical documentation in a manner as required by department policy, the Standards for the Operation of Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Programs, and the Medicaid Policies and Procedures Manual.
    • Maintains competence in multicultural issues and demonstrates respect and understanding for people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
    • Adheres to established policies and procedures for Behavioral Health services, Kid Clinic and Campbell County Memorial Hospital.
    • Actively engages in departmental quality assurance and utilization management activities and processes to include monthly chart reviews.
    • Provides community-based psychotherapy to individuals, groups, and families.
    • Maintains professional licensure through required educational and training experiences.
    • Participates in activities to promote mental health and/or the prevention of substance abuse as appropriate.
    • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
    • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures. Adheres to policies of Mental Health Services & Substance Abuse Agencies.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    • Education
      • A doctoral degree in a mental health discipline or related field is required.
    • Licensure
      • Licensed or license eligible as a psychologist is required. If not licensed at the time of hire, must obtain licensure or provisional licensure within one month of date of hire.
      • Licensed professionals must strictly adhere to the ethical code of their respective discipline.
    • Certifications required
      • See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.
    • Experience
      • Preferred, not required.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • The ability to maintain continuing education requirements and all certifications and licenses as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, CPI, CPR) including professional licensure.
    • Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to HIPPA, CFR 42 and 45, EMTALA etc.
    • Achieves an annual minimum productivity of 1,200 client hours.
    • Able to get along with and relate to clients, staff, other employees, employees of community agencies, and members of the public at large, in a manner that facilitates delivery of clinical services and presents a positive perception of BHS and CCH.
    • Able to assess, appraise, evaluate, and understand complex and technical mental health concepts and client functioning.
    • Able to communicate to clients, professionals, employees, and the public at level appropriate to the circumstances.
    • Computer Knowledge including the ability to enter material into electronic record. Ability to operate fax, computer, and copy machine to perform the duties of the position.
    • The ability to demonstrate knowledge of developmental stages and apply developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the appropriate age of the patient. Ability to maintain the appropriate level of knowledge and skills.

      • Pediatric (Age 1-11)
      • Adolescent (12-18)
      • Adult (19-64)
