Organizational Psychologist studies and assesses the organizations workforce, management, culture, business objectives, and challenges using psychological principles and research methods. Designs and develops programs and tools that will be appropriate for the needs of the organization and which will assist employees and management to better achieve desired goals. Being an Organizational Psychologist utilizes various methods including employee surveys, focus groups, skill assessments, performance appraisals, and other feedback mechanisms to assist management in identifying issues and driving improvements. Creates solutions and programs that may be focused on employee selection, job training, leadership training, workplace and family issues, and change management. Additionally, Organizational Psychologist requires a master's degree in industrial/organizational psychology. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Organizational Psychologist works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.     In 2015 Brilliant Detroit was created to provide a radically new approach to kindergarten readiness in neighborhoods. The idea was to create a unique delivery model in our approach to early childhood development by using underutilized housing stock to create early child and family centers in neighborhoods. Brilliant Detroit homes provide holistic services for kids 0-8 predicated on evidence-based programs around health, family support, and education. Brilliant Detroit was born to create kid success neighborhoods. Today, in each location, neighbors come together for fellowship, activities and learning to assure school readiness, and provide needed support for families.

    This work will be done in accordance with the core principles of our Detroit-based non-profit team.

    Job Summary
    This position will report to the Director of Operations and be a part of the Operations Department. This position will work in concert with multiple parties on projects and efforts related to the organization's day to day operations. This person must work well with different stakeholders and be able to work in a fast paced environment. An ideal candidate should be professional, polite, and attentive while also being accurate.

    Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Operations Team Leadership:
    • Oversee our IT efforts and projects in partnership with our IT vendor
    • Lead the Brilliant IT team
    • Oversee supply requests & ordering initiatives for the operations department & other organizational purchases as needed
    • Oversee physical donation inventory, tracking, organization, and distribution in coordination with the Stewardship department
    • Operations Project Management:
    • From start to finish, lead operation projects in collaboration with staff and other vendors
    • Plan and designate resources, prepare budgets, monitor progress of each project
    • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
    • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress; ensure the coordination, integration, and delivery of all projects across staff, vendors, partners, and other stakeholders are consistently met.
    • Establish project plans, tasks, resources, and ownership to ensure timelines are met
    • Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations
    • Proactively work to remove project obstacles, identify, and manage issue escalations, and provide support to teams balancing competing priorities
    • Ensure that key resources (people, time, materials, and dollars) are aligned efficiently and effectively
    • Organizational Support, in coordination with the operations team
    • Assist with overall project delivery on a special needs basis
    • Assist with data entry and reporting
    • Provide real-time scheduling support by booking appointments
    • Screen organizational phone calls & emails and relay messages; follow-up as needed
    • Generate reports, transcribe minutes, create presentations, and conduct research as requested
    • Coordinate hospitality efforts (order food, arrange rooms, etc)
    • Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail and mail
    • Anticipate the needs of others in order to ensure their seamless and positive experience

    Qualifications
    • Experience in nonprofits or small businesses preferred
    • Strong, demonstrated technological proficiency with Google Drive, especially Google Sheets
    • Strong written and oral communications skills
    • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and team members around a goal
    • Work with minimal up-front guidance and the ability to take ownership of work product

    Work Conditions
    • Ability to work cooperatively with individuals of diverse racial/economic/cultural backgrounds
    • Must be able to to lift and move at least 25 pounds
    • This position may require evening and/or weekend work
    • Local travel required, reliable transportation needed. COVID Vaccinated individuals preferred
