Organizational Psychologist studies and assesses the organizations workforce, management, culture, business objectives, and challenges using psychological principles and research methods. Designs and develops programs and tools that will be appropriate for the needs of the organization and which will assist employees and management to better achieve desired goals. Being an Organizational Psychologist utilizes various methods including employee surveys, focus groups, skill assessments, performance appraisals, and other feedback mechanisms to assist management in identifying issues and driving improvements. Creates solutions and programs that may be focused on employee selection, job training, leadership training, workplace and family issues, and change management. Additionally, Organizational Psychologist requires a master's degree in industrial/organizational psychology. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Organizational Psychologist works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.     • Responsible for the creation, staffing and maintenance of all Installation and Garrison policies and standard operating procedures.
    • Assists in making all necessary arrangements of travel for the Garrison Command Group, arranging schedules of visits, making all transportation and hotel reservations.

    • Utilizes knowledge of regulations and procedures in determining and arranging material in proper format.
    • Observes need for administrative or procedural notices or instructions to the directorates and types the necessary documents for signature.
    • Develops/assembles administrative data requirements for use in briefings, conferences, and presentations by and for the Garrison Command group.
    • Proofreads completed work for accuracy in spelling, grammatical construction and punctuation, and checks to assure presence of necessary enclosures.

    • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime, that may include nights and weekend.

    Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Reviewing publications, directives, policies, and procedures to implement into daily office routines. 2) Utilizing common administrative procedures within an office to include routing of correspondence, proper filing methods, and storage of files and records. 3) Evaluating office procedures to determine which activities can be modified to improve efficiencies, eliminate duplication, and produce cost savings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

    Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position such as Business Administration.     Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
