Organizational Psychologist studies and assesses the organizations workforce, management, culture, business objectives, and challenges using psychological principles and research methods. Designs and develops programs and tools that will be appropriate for the needs of the organization and which will assist employees and management to better achieve desired goals. Being an Organizational Psychologist utilizes various methods including employee surveys, focus groups, skill assessments, performance appraisals, and other feedback mechanisms to assist management in identifying issues and driving improvements. Creates solutions and programs that may be focused on employee selection, job training, leadership training, workplace and family issues, and change management. Additionally, Organizational Psychologist requires a master's degree in industrial/organizational psychology. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Organizational Psychologist works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.     Terms of Employment: 10 1 months (Grant Funded Position, guaranteed 3 years)

     

    Salary: State Salary Schedule plus local supplement

     

    Qualifications: Master’s level or above; Must hold or be eligible to obtain NC School Psychologist Licensing through NC Department of Public Instruction.

     

    Supervises: None

     

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Identifies and assesses the learning, development and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups, as well as the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment
    • Uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions and programs
    • Provides interventions to students to support the teaching process and to maximize learning and adjustment
    • Provides consultation to parents, teachers, and other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustments of students
    • Assists in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs to meet and identify learning and adjustment needs Delivers a planned and coordinated program of psychological services
    • Participates in school and district implementation of MTSS Problem Solving, as requested
    • Applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice
    • Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skills
    • Communicates effectively with students, parents and school staff Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
