Orthopedic Technician applies and adjusts plaster casts and assembles and attaches orthopedic traction equipment and devices as directed by a physician. Sets up bed traction units or rigs special devices as required, and inspects and adjusts bandages and equipment. Being an Orthopedic Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, completion of Orthopedic Technician training and certification program. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Summary
Employees in this job function as limited radiological technologists with responsibility for operating X-ray
equipment for assisting physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
specifications for proper timing of exposure; regulates the length and intensity of film exposure.
as requested by physicians.
patients’ images from PACS for the treating physician
laws, rules, and departmental policies.
Assists with bringing the patient from the Pods to the X-Ray department, as needed..
repairs needed to equipment.
