Orthopedic Technician applies and adjusts plaster casts and assembles and attaches orthopedic traction equipment and devices as directed by a physician. Sets up bed traction units or rigs special devices as required, and inspects and adjusts bandages and equipment. Being an Orthopedic Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, completion of Orthopedic Technician training and certification program. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Orthopedic Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our orthopedic department, optimizing patient flow, and coordinating various aspects of orthopedic procedures. The Orthopedics Coordinator is responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and evaluating unit activities for the provision of quality patient care within the framework of the mission, values, and vision of the Cayuga Health System.
Job Responsibilities include:
Requirements:
Education - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Experience - Two years in clinical discipline preferred. One year in clinical discipline required with demonstrated clinical and leadership expertise.
Licensure - Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in New York or eligible to obtain New York RN licensure. Obtain CPR, and as needed ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.
Physical Requirements - Ability to lift 20 pounds frequently. Moving, lifting or transferring patients and/or equipment may involve lifting of up to 50 or more pounds occasionally. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
