Orthopedic Technician applies and adjusts plaster casts and assembles and attaches orthopedic traction equipment and devices as directed by a physician. Sets up bed traction units or rigs special devices as required, and inspects and adjusts bandages and equipment. Being an Orthopedic Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, completion of Orthopedic Technician training and certification program. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. This position is a seasonal full time position. The approximate dates for this seasonal position is June through September.
This position is responsible for providing quality care to patients undergoing ambulatory surgical intervention in the area of preadmission, admitting, recovery, and discharge. The Peri-Anesthesia Nurse provides direct patient care and other nursing services to the patient; this RN assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care of the patient. Performs perioperative assessment of the patient, nursing care plan formulation, operative care plan implementation and post-operative evaluation of the patient's response/outcome and of effectiveness and appropriateness of nursing care provided. The Peri-Anesthesia RN also ensures that the patient is prepared for discharge home by providing the necessary education to the patient and responsible caregiver.
