Orthopedic Technician applies and adjusts plaster casts and assembles and attaches orthopedic traction equipment and devices as directed by a physician. Sets up bed traction units or rigs special devices as required, and inspects and adjusts bandages and equipment. Being an Orthopedic Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, completion of Orthopedic Technician training and certification program. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Clinical Excellence/Patient Care ·Partners with the RN and other healthcare team members to achieve patient care outcomes and goals of care, as identified in the plan of care. ·Performs specific tasks as directed by the RN and other healthcare team members as identified in the PCT role. Consults and seeks out guidance from RN and/or other healthcare team members, as appropriate and when completing new or unfamiliar tasks or duties. oTasks include but are not limited to: §Activities of Daily Living §Answering patient call lights §Assisting with simple procedures defined in the work area §Taking and recording vital signs and weights §Transporting patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens §Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment ·Obtains, records and/or accurately enters data into the EMR.
