Shift: 40 hours, Monday-Friday

The community you’ll be caring for:
- More than 800 physicians, 450 advanced practice providers, and 2,600 clinical and support staff in over 40 specialties, provide patients with a broad range of medical and surgical services.
- AdventHealth Medical Group Central FL operates over 200 offices, providing compassionate, multidisciplinary care to more than one million patients a year.

The role you’ll contribute:
- Provides routine designated tasks related to the efficient and cost-effective operation of the department.
- Is part of an interdisciplinary team assisting with patient care.
- Adheres to the Advent Health Corporate Compliance Plan, to the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
- Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Provide inpatient and outpatient services necessary and consistent with the daily duties of an orthopedic practice.
- Complete patient intake and room to include but not limited to height, weight, patient history, etc.
- Supplies and promptly applies soft goods and off-the-shelf braces to patients as ordered by the Physicians and Advance Practice Providers or Scope of Practice.
- Assist with placing patients into traction and adjust traction equipment as ordered by the Physicians and Advance Practice Providers
- Assists with or applies and removes casts and splints, including bivalved, long arm, short arm, long leg, short leg, hip spica, and clubfoot casts. Trimming and modification of casts and DME fitting for patients as ordered by the Physicians and Advance Practice Providers
- Assist physician with minor office procedures, bedside/inpatient minor procedures, wound care, wound vac application, and operating room assistance with cast application, traction application, and patient positioning.
- Triage clinical calls to help facilitate patient questions and concerns specific to the responsibilities of the orthopedic technician.
- Communicates information clearly and precisely to fellow technicians 100% of the time so that coverage will not be affected by a change of staffing as observed by the manager.
- Documents accurately, thoroughly, and timely using measurable terminology and acceptable abbreviations
- Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
- Practices principles of employee and patient safety when performing daily job activities via observation.
- Complies with FH Compliance Plan, rules, and regulations of all local, state, and federal agencies. Complies with all accrediting bodies and payers' standards as evident through documentation reviews, tracers, and rounds results. Takes responsibility for the environment of care by monitoring and taking action as needed.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- BLS Certificate
Preferred qualifications:
- Previous orthopedic technician experience preferred
- Registered Orthopedic Technologist preferred
