Assistant Nursing Assistant Supervisor
Job Summary:
- The primary purpose of this position is the assist in supervising the day-to-day activities of nursing assistants and trained medication aides, in conjunction with the CNA Supervisor. Such assistance in supervision must be in accordance with current federal and state standards. To assist in supervision, organize, direct and complete core scheduling for all shifts to maintain a quality of service that will fulfill the mission and be in accordance with the policies and procedures of CVCC.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification within the State of Minnesota.
- Experience with geriatrics, long-term care and/or rehabilitation, care plan development desired.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
- Skilled in clear written and oral communication.
Hours:
5:45 am - 2:15 pm or 9:30 am - 6:00 pm
- Consistently
Monday - Friday, except 1 weekend per month.
- Will be flexible with weekend shifts, does not have to be a consecutive weekend combo. One day off during the same pay week will be granted.
Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Completing the core schedule for all CNA and TMA’s.
- Completing timecards and paid time off requests.
- Assists in communicating orientation needs for CNA and TMA’s.
- Assisting in reviewing and monitoring the work that is being completed and completed appropriately.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures for adequate staffing, recruitment, hiring and development of personnel.
Other Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assisting in supervising the care of the residents from CNA and TMA’s.
- Assisting in observing that the residents’ needs are being met.
- Assisting with hiring and disciplinary actions of staff, as requested.
- Assisting in observing the residents care plans are being followed appropriately by nursing personnel.
- Promoting teamwork and assisting floor staff when needed with more training opportunities, to provide the best quality of care possible.
- Assist in ensuring that all policies and procedures are being followed, as well as state and federal guidelines.
- Assists with promoting teamwork.
- Assists in training new employees.
- Assists in ensuring in-services and continuing education is being completed on time.
- Assists in managing employee call-ins.
- Assists in delegating nursing care of residents to CNA’s and TMA’s.
- Assists in providing staff leadership and supervision.
- Assists in identifying nursing team member’s work performance problems and provides feedback, expectations and or disciplinary measures if ok’d by NAR Supervisor of DON.
- Assists in motivating staff in continued improvement performance, customer service, resident care and quality.
- Acts as a role model for expected quality care, attitude, and behavior.
- Assists in monitoring and maintaining a safe and pleasurable environment for residents and nursing team members.
- Maintains and is knowledgeable on the CVCC, state and federal policies and procedures.
- Assists in audits of nursing department staff.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Nursing.
Working Conditions:
- Is subject to exposure of infectious disease, waste, and conditions.
- Is subject to frequent interruptions.
- Sits, stands, bends, climbs stairs lifts and moves intermittently during waking hours.
- Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors.
- Is involved with residents, family members, visitors, and other personnel under all conditions and circumstances.
