    Major Duties:

    • The CBOC RN Manager is a professional registered nurse who has the responsibility of providing administrative and contractual oversight for the programs and assigned/ contracted staff at VA Butler Healthcare's five CBOC's along with providing clinical consultation in collaboration with existing clinical leaders located at the CBOC's.
    • Travel required; monthly visitations/ as needed visits to the CBOC's.
    • Supports and maintains the operation VA Butler Healthcare' CBOCs and promote an environment that provides our Veterans with the high-quality healthcare they deserve. Demonstrate expertise and guidance in application of VA policies and procedures governing CBOC operation as it relates to the delivery of patient care.
    • Ensuring that associated contracts are managed ethically and in manner that demonstrates good stewardship of government funds in compliance with all applicable regulations.
    • Assists on-site CBOC staff with understanding their role in achievement of performance metrics.
    • Produces accurate and timely reports for leadership regarding CBOC performance.
    • Communicates to leadership and interdisciplinary team members any changes to VHA directives/ handbooks related to the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
    • Demonstrate the ability in identifying quality of care deficiencies, guiding committee's and teams in the appropriate analysis and plan of action.
    • Provides follow- up and monitoring of deficiencies identified within the CBOC setting.
    • Supports and enhances client self- determination. Serves as a resource for clients and staff in addressing ethical issues.

    Basic Requirements:
    • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
    • English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
    • Graduation from School of Nursing. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency, and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
      • The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), an accrediting arm of the National League for Nursing located at 61 Broadway, 33rd Floor, New York, New York 10006 or call (800) 669-1656 extension 153. The NLNAC accredits all levels of nursing programs. Additional information may be obtained from the NLNAC web site.
      • The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), an accrediting arm of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). The CCNE accredits bachelors and masters degree programs, and is located at One Dupont Circle N.W., Suite 530, Washington, DC 20036 or call (202) 463-6930. Additional information may be obtained from the CCNE web site.
    • Registration. Condition of Employment. A registered nurse (RN) will have a current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. The appointing official may waive this registration if the RN is to serve in a country other than the U.S. and the RN has registration in that country (e.g., Philippines). The RN must maintain a current, full, active and unrestricted registration to continue employment with VA.

    Physical Requirements:
    This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. He/ she may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may have to don personal protective equipment (PPE) in providing care to the Veterans. They may occasionally be exposed to Veterans who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. He/ she must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on Veteran need.

    Other Factors:
    This position typically works and administrative work week but may require flexibility in schedule and assignments. This position may require ab occasional rotation of non- administrative tours as established by the immediate supervisor. Self- motivated in the pursuit of meeting professional work standards. Duties as assigned.
