Front Desk Receptionist/Scheduler

Position Summary:

The Front Desk Receptionist/Scheduler will greet patients and visitors over the phone and in-person, optimize provider schedules and patient satisfaction with efficient scheduling, and serve as the primary point of entry for everyone entering the practice.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary point of entry for all patients and visitors of the practice, greeting others in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
• Manage incoming and outgoing phone calls in a friendly manner to set the tone for the patient’s encounter and the expectations for the office. Schedule patient appointments appropriately to ensure smooth flow and cadence of the day and to decrease patient wait times.
• Ensure all requests are handled in a timely manner.
• Provide administrative support by assisting with the filing, and preparation of patient charts and records, filing, telephone scheduling, dictation, other front office functions as appropriate and necessary to practice operations.
• Perform insurance pre-certifications and pre-determinations for surgical procedures.
• Ability to complete Bureau of Workers Comp forms, FMLA/Disability paperwork.
• Follow proper opening/closing procedures as designated by the specific practice.
• Collect, enter, and maintain all patient demographic and insurance/payer information in an accurate and detailed manner.
• Strive to meet all practice and standards and policies for the collection of such payments and balances.
• Maintain professional and positive attitude and appearance at all times.
• Display active commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the practice.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Personality and demeanor to deal with the public and work closely with a wide variety of employees and patients.
• Basic office skills such as typing, filing, and phone etiquette.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years medical reception preferred.
