PACS Administrator is responsible for the daily operations of the Picture Archiving and Communications Systems. Oversees equipment maintenance and systems testing, upgrading, and installing. Being a PACS Administrator acts as a liaison between the Radiology department and customers. Maintains positive vendor relationship. Additionally, PACS Administrator requires a bachelor's degree. Requires a certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The PACS Administrator supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a PACS Administrator typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. Reports to the Admin Manager. Receives/retrieves/releases films and/or CD, in accordance with department policy, to patients, physicians, or outside services needing copies of patient studies. Handles phone for requests for patient information from physicians or other health care professionals. Verifies patient information. Makes computer entries and retrieves information from PACS and HBO systems. Interfaces and communicates to hospital personnel, medical staff, patients, families, attorneys, visitors and other requesting agencies. Delivers reports electronically or physically to physician offices and the patient charts in the hospital on a daily basis.
Maintains safe environment in the waiting are and the reception desk.
Reassures parent/caregivers/patients.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
High School diploma or GED required.
Basic computer skills with Microsoft office and Microsoft Windows skills.
