PACS Administrator is responsible for the daily operations of the Picture Archiving and Communications Systems. Oversees equipment maintenance and systems testing, upgrading, and installing. Being a PACS Administrator acts as a liaison between the Radiology department and customers. Maintains positive vendor relationship. Additionally, PACS Administrator requires a bachelor's degree. Requires a certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The PACS Administrator supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a PACS Administrator typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. Installation of new PACs/Imaging servers
Support and install corporate imagine back-ups.
Develops and maintains PACS/Imaging server standards, procedures, training documentation and other standardized tools for server farm.
Reviews and identifies strategic opportunities for applying PACS server technology to help achieve the organization's goals within the scope of the IT strategic plan.
Ensures Corporate Antivirus is installed and functioning with the most current definitions on the PACS/Imaging server farm.
Develops and maintains storage solutions to support server farm.
Works closely with radiology staff and department
Minimum Education Bachelor's degree
Master's degree (Preferred)
*Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
Required Skills
Required: AART Registered or Eligible
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Work Experience 5 years IT related PACS/ Imaging admin services (Preferred)
